The Bermuda Amateur Swimming Association (BASA) held their highly anticipated Short Course Championships, with swimmers of all ages showcasing their talent and dedication, battling it out for top honors in a series of exciting races.
10 & Under Girls Madeleine Friend (1,477 points): Friend proved to be a force to be reckoned with, showcasing impressive versatility across multiple strokes and distances. Her consistency across events like the 50m, 100m & 200m Freestyles, secured her the top spot.
Charlotte Henderson was second with 1,403 points, and Sloane Wright was third with 981 points.
10 & Under Boys Niklas Bock (864 points): Bock displayed a well-rounded skillset, picking up significant points in the freestyle and backstroke events. His efforts in the breaststroke and butterfly also contributed to his overall victory.
Conor Lim was second with 246 points and Samuel Bernardino had 167 points to finish third.
11-12 Girls Allison Steynor (1,967 points): Steynor was a standout performer in this age group, demonstrating exceptional speed and endurance across freestyle, butterfly, and backstroke events.
With 1,931 points Eva Desjardins was second, and Colette Durkin finished third with 1,826 points.
11-12 Boys Jacob Leclerc (1,868 points): Leclerc demonstrated his prowess in freestyle events of varying distances, complemented by strong showings in backstroke and individual medley, securing his top position.
Ethan Smith finished in second place with 1,716 points, and Maxwell Williams finished third with 1,130 points.
13-14 Girls Scarlett Spurling (3,051 points): Spurling put on a dominant display, accumulating significant points across all freestyle distances, individual medley, and breaststroke. Her versatility and speed were undeniable. Gaby Cechini (2,764 points) excelled in the longer Freestyle events and Individual Medley races. Freya Lau (2,452 points) showcased her strengths in Breaststroke, Freestyle, Butterfly, and Individual Medley events.
13-14 Boys Gabriel Maranzana (2,856 points): Maranzana demonstrated exceptional speed and endurance in freestyle events, complemented by strong showings in butterfly and individual medley, leading to his impressive point total. Joey Cechini (2,643 points) was a consistent performer across Freestyle, Individual Medley, and Backstroke events. Noah Fulton (2,444 points) strengths in Freestyle events of varying distances, Individual Medley and Backstroke.
15 & Over Girls Madelyn Moore (4,354 points): Moore was the undisputed star of the championships, showcasing exceptional speed and power in freestyle, backstroke, and butterfly events. Her dominance was evident across numerous races. Marleigh Howes (3,675 points) demonstrated her strength in Freestyle and Butterfly events. Jorgia White (3,308 points) excelled in the distance Freestyle events.
15 & Over Boys Thomas Cechini (4,147 points):Cechini displayed his versatility and strength across Freestyle, Individual Medley, and Butterfly events, consistently achieving high scores and solidifying his position at the top. Logan Jones (3,360 points) demonstrated impressive speed in Freestyle and Butterfly events. Joseph Lau (2,837 points) showcased his talent in Freestyle, Butterfly, and Individual Medley events.
