The 2025 Bermuda Lawn Tennis Association’s Spring Fling Tournament delivered another day of captivating action at the WER Joell Tennis Stadium, with Arianna Parra Delgado's dramatic comeback stealing the show.
Day Two of the tournament witnessed intense battles across various age groups, but it was the Girls 14 Singles match between Delgado and Samantha Morgan that provided the most gripping spectacle.
Morgan started strongly, seizing the initiative and winning the first set 6-3, putting Delgado under immediate pressure. However, Delgado demonstrated remarkable resilience, battling back to win the second set 7-5, levelling the match and forcing a decisive third-set tie-break.
The tie-break proved to be a marathon affair, a testament to the determination of both young players. With every point contested fiercely, the tension in the stadium was palpable. After a series of nail-biting exchanges, Delgado finally emerged victorious, winning the tie-break 14-12 in an epic conclusion.
In the Boys 16 Singles, Will Britten delivered a solid performance to defeat Jadon Spriggs. Britten controlled the first set, winning 6-2, before facing a sterner test in the second. Spriggs fought hard, but Britten ultimately prevailed 7-6, securing a straight-sets victory.
Meanwhile, in the Boys 18 Singles, Sebastian Pukk displayed his dominance with a comfortable win over Tristan Pettit. Pukk won the first set 6-1 and maintained his momentum in the second, closing out the match 6-4.
The Spring Fling Tournament continues to provide a platform for Bermuda's young tennis talent to showcase their skills and compete at a high level. With thrilling matches and impressive performances, the tournament is proving to be a highlight of the local tennis calendar.
