Ray's Australian Stint Ends in Melville Victory

IslandStats.com
Melville Won by 99 Runs

Melville 260/4 South Perth 161

Brianna Ray concluded her stint in the Australian Senior Female One Day A Grade Division with a final appearance for South Perth at Richardson Park, in a match that saw Melville emerge victorious.

Melville, after winning the toss and electing to bat, posted a formidable total of 260/4 from their allotted 50 overs. Teresa Graves led the charge with an impressive unbeaten century, scoring 119 not out. Rebecca West was the pick of the South Perth bowlers, taking 2 wickets for 70 runs from her 10 overs. Ray bowled a steady spell of 10 overs, conceding 45 runs without taking a wicket.

In reply, South Perth struggled to match Melville's imposing total and were eventually bowled out for 161. Matilda Richings top-scored with a valiant 47. Ray contributed with the bat, scoring 10 runs from 12 balls, including two boundaries. Seren Simpson was the standout bowler for Melville, taking 3 wickets for 22 runs from her six overs.

While the result was not what South Perth desired, Ray's time in Australia has provided her with invaluable experience. The opportunity to compete in a different cricketing environment has allowed her to develop her skills with both bat and ball.

Ray's exposure to Australian cricket will undoubtedly be a memorable and beneficial experience, contributing to her development as a cricketer. The time spent in the middle, facing different bowlers and adapting to new conditions, will serve her well in her future cricketing endeavours.
