Pacers Meet Sees Four Athletes Secure CARIFTA Qualification

The Bermuda Pacers Track Club hosted a successful Bermuda National Athletics Association (BNAA) Track Meet at the Flora Duffy South Field Stadium, with three athletes achieving CARIFTA Games Qualifying Standards.

The event showcased the talent and dedication of Bermuda's young athletes, with several impressive performances throughout the day.

Amaris Munya delivered a standout performance in the Under 17 Women's 800m, clocking a time of 2:21.63. This surpassed the CARIFTA Games qualifying standard of 2:24.00, securing her place in the prestigious competition.

Tatiana Sousa also achieved CARIFTA qualification in the Under 17 Women's Javelin Throw. Her top throw of 37.52m exceeded the qualifying standard of 35.65m, demonstrating her strength and technique.

Sanchez Smith, fresh from his recent performance in Florida at the Clermont Draft Legal Triathlon Challenge, continued his impressive form on the track. He met the qualifying standard for the Under 17 Boys 3000m, clocking a time of 9:48.41, well below the required 9:58.00.

Amara Samuels came agonisingly close to CARIFTA qualification in the Under 17 Women's 100m. Her winning time of 12.36 seconds was just one hundredth of a second outside the qualifying standard of 12.35 seconds.
