Bermuda U14 Boys Suffer Narrow Defeat in World Junior Opener

IslandStats.com
Following our coverage of Bermuda's junior tennis team in Guatemala City, we shift our focus to the WJT North Central America & Caribbean Pre-Qualifying Tournament in the Dominican Republic, where Bermuda's Under-14 boys' team is vying for a spot in the next phase of the World Junior Tennis Championships.

The team, comprising Manuel Maldonado, Raul Maldonado, and Trystan Thompson, faced a tough challenge in their opening match against Trinidad and Tobago, narrowly losing 2-1.

Manuel Maldonado got Bermuda off to a strong start, defeating Christopher Khan in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0. However, Trinidad and Tobago levelled the tie when Josiah Hills defeated Raul Maldonado 6-0, 6-0.

The doubles match became the decider, with Raul Maldonado and Trystan Thompson taking on Josiah Hills and Christopher Khan. The Trinidad and Tobago duo proved too strong, winning the match 6-0, 6-0 to secure victory for their team.

Despite the loss, the young Bermudian team will look to bounce back in their remaining matches and continue their quest for a place in the next round of the World Junior Tennis Championships.
