Bermuda's young triathletes continued to shine at the Clermont Draft Legal Challenge in Florida, with strong performances across the board on the second day of competition.
Youth Girls Sunday
Sofia Leclerc led the way for Bermuda's female athletes, securing a top-ten finish in the Youth Girls division. She crossed the line in 10th place with a time of 36:15 (Swim: 6:20, Bike: 17:51, Run: 10:06).
Riana Robinson also delivered a strong performance, finishing 12th with a time of 36:30 (Swim: 6:41, Bike: 17:28, Run: 10:18). Naomi MacGuinness was close behind, finishing 13th in 36:43.
Isla Cooze finished 18th with a time of 37:44, while Zara Bule secured 24th place in 38:33. Kelise Wade completed the course in 41:58, finishing 35th.
Unfortunately Colette Durkin suffered a nasty crash on the bike, coming down heavily, she is ok but could not continue the race. Iris Duda had a foot injury which flared up overnight so she did not start.
Youth Men's Sunday
Dylan Eiselt continued his impressive form from the previous day, securing another podium finish in the Youth Men's division. He finished second with a time of 31:40 (Swim: 5:32, Bike: 15:35, Run: 8:41). Rory Shepherd also maintained his strong performance, after his 3rd place on Saturday, Shepherd looked like he would complete the podium again but a 10-second penalty meant he had to settle for fourth in 31:52 (Swim: 5:16, Bike: 16:00, Run: 8:47).
Jasper Lau and Jens Drea finished neck and neck, both clocking a time of 33:55 to share 14th place. Spencer Haldeman finished close behind in 16th place with a time of 34:28.
Ethan Smith (19th, 34:44), Jacob Leclerc (22nd, 35:03), Sanchez Smith endured a painful afternoon with cramps but battled to the end to finish (24th, 35:30), and Lucas Bule (27th, 35:41) all delivered solid performances.
Dominic Wright finished 30th with a time of 36:23, while Ronan Davidge completed the course in 41:07, finishing 38th. Unfortunately, there was a Did Not Finish in the boys race as well - Rohan Roopra having a high speed crash which broke his helmet and left him with cuts and bruises, thankfully he is also ok.
The consistent strong performances from Bermuda's young triathletes at the Clermont Draft Legal Challenge highlight the depth of talent and dedication within the island's youth triathlon program.
