Somerset Cricket Club, Inc has posted on social media that they are pleased to officially announce that Mr. Janeiro Tucker - “Mr Cup Match” has accepted the responsibilities of Head Coach at SCC, succeeding Mr. Jeff Richardson for the upcoming 2025 Cricket Season.
Janeiro has been in the Assistant Coach role for the previous two seasons and it has always been the intent that he would assume the Head Coach position, once Jeff announced his intended retirement. Janeiro has worked with and alongside Jeff for a number of years really, we simply put things in place in an official capacity a couple of years ago.
Cricket Chairman, Mr. Norbert Simons (who has taken over from Mike Corday) has a good relationship with Janeiro. The communication has been great – which is an invaluable recipe for the seamless transition. They have met with the players (a meeting I had the privilege to be in attendance) and by all counts, I would conclude the temperature of the meeting was indeed positive, robust and quite enthusiastic!
Janeiro is no stranger to SCC. We, at 6 Cricket Lane, are looking forward to Janeiro building on the foundation of success laid by his predecessor, and wish him every bit of success!
