Trey Mallory and his UNC Wilmington Men's Tennis teammates faced a tough challenge against the No. 1 ranked Wake Forest Demon Deacons, the reigning national indoor champions, ultimately falling 5-2 at the Wake Forest Tennis Center.
Mallory and his doubles partner, Harold Huens, competed in the No. 2 doubles spot but were defeated 6-3 by the Wake Forest duo of Suresh Ekambaram and Charlie Robertson.
In singles play, Mallory took on Joaquin Guilleme in the No. 6 position. Despite a competitive first set, Mallory was unable to overcome Guilleme's strong play, losing the match 6-4, 6-0.
Although UNC Wilmington were unable to secure the victory against the top-ranked Wake Forest, the match provided valuable experience against high-level competition. Mallory and his teammates will look to build on their performance as they continue their season.
