Boulevard Blazers 1 X-Roads 4
X-Roads have taken a giant leap towards securing the First Division league title with a convincing 4-1 victory over their closest rivals, Boulevard Blazers, at the BAA field.
This top-of-the-table clash saw X-Roads extend their lead to seven points, putting them in a commanding position with 31 points from 11 games. Boulevard Blazers, despite the loss, remain nine points clear of the chasing pack in third place.
X-Roads started strongly, with Paul Simons opening the scoring in the fourth minute. Simons doubled the lead in the 21st minute, further compounding Boulevard Blazers' woes. In the 28th minute, Boulevard Blazers' goalkeeper Deaz Chambers was forced off with an injury, with Anthony Williams Smith taking over in goal. X-Roads held their 2-0 advantage going into halftime.
The second half began much like the first, with X-Roads adding to their tally. Donovan Thompson found the net in the 52nd minute, making it 3-0. Boulevard Blazers managed to pull a goal back six minutes later through Ernest Trott, briefly offering hope of a comeback.
However, any such hopes were quickly dashed when Simons completed his hat-trick in the 73rd minute, restoring X-Roads' three-goal cushion and sealing the 4-1 victory.
The result leaves X-Roads in a commanding position and with one hand on the league trophy.
