Sebastian Kempe, along with Bermuda's Olympic sailor Adriana Penruddocke and Nicole Stovell, have begun their campaigns at the ILCA Midwinters East 2025 in St. Petersburg, Florida. This regatta serves as the final Junior Pan Am country qualifier, adding extra significance to the event.
Kempe made a dominant start in the ILCA 7 Fleet, finishing day one in first place overall with just 4 points after three races. He demonstrated impressive consistency, securing a second-place finish in the opening race before taking commanding victories in races two and three. This strong performance gives Kempe a four-point lead over second-placed Hamilton Barclay and a nine-point advantage over William Baker in third.
In the ILCA 6 Radial Division, Penruddocke currently sits in 27th place with 33 points after three races. Her consistent performances saw her finish 10th in the first race, 13th in the second, and 10th in the third. Penruddocke faces a 30-point gap to the joint leaders, Jake Homberger and Isabella Mendoza Cabezas, but with more races to come, she will be looking to close the distance.
Also competing in the ILCA 6 Radial Division, Stovell ended day one in 67th position with 70 points. Her race finishes were 27th, 23rd, and 20th, respectively. She will be aiming to improve her standings as the regatta progresses. The competition continues, and the Bermudian sailors will be looking to build on their performances in the days to come.
