Swimmers from Warwick Academy, along with Gabby and Thomas Cechini representing Mercersburg Academy, have begun competition at the Eastern Interscholastic Swimming Championships at the Kunkel Aquatic Center in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
Thomas Cechini qualified for the A Final of the Men's 200 Yard Freestyle after finishing fourth in the preliminaries with a time of 1:42.65. Logan Jones finished 46th overall (1:52.80), and Noah Fulton was 68th (2:04.22).
In the Women’s 200 Yard Freestyle Preliminaries, Jorgia White finished 33rd (2:03.31), and Sofia Leclerc was 53rd (2:22.90).
Gabby Cechini set a new personal best in the Women’s 200 Yard Individual Medley Preliminaries, clocking 2:16.69 to finish 21st and advance to the C Final.
Gabby Esposito finished 45th in the Women’s 50 Yard Freestyle (25.88), while Elanna Fulton was 64th (27.11).
Warwick Academy had four swimmers compete in the Men’s 50 Yard Freestyle: Jamie MacFarlane (81st, 24.38), Axel Wernbo (82nd, 24.39), Zachary Johnson (91st, 24.52), and Gianluca Bortoli (127th, 27.32).
The Warwick Academy Women’s 200 Yard Freestyle Relay team (Esposito, Leclerc, White, and Fulton) qualified for the C Final after finishing 17th in the preliminaries with a time of 1:47.15.
Thomas Cechini swam the third leg for the Mercersburg Academy Men’s 200 Yard Freestyle Relay team, which qualified for the A Final in second place with a Double AA All-American time of 1:22.95. The Warwick Academy team (Jones, MacFarlane, Wernbo, and Johnson) also advanced to the C Final, finishing 18th in the preliminaries with a time of 1:34.80.
