Bermuda Swimmers Help Baylor Dominate Championships

Baylor School's swimming program has cemented its dynasty, claiming the 2025 Texas Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association (TISCA) Combined State Championship for an unprecedented 20th consecutive year. The Girls' team secured the state title, while the Boys narrowly missed out, finishing a close second.

Katherine Wheddon and Violet Smith played key roles in the Girls' triumph. Wheddon posted a time of 1:57.59 in the Women’s 200 Yard Freestyle Preliminaries, finishing 19th. She later qualified for the B Final of the Women’s 500 Yard Freestyle, finishing 5th with a Tennessee National Qualifying Time (TNQT) of 5:10.25. Smith clocked 59.11 in the Women 100 Yard Backstroke Preliminaries, finishing 18th.

For the Boys, Connor Hupman shone with impressive performances. He qualified for the A Final of the Men’s 200 Yard Freestyle, posting a time of 1:41.08 in the preliminaries. In the final, he finished 6th with a TNQT of 1:40.76. Hupman also qualified for the B Final of the Men’s 100 Yard Freestyle, finishing 4th with a time of 46.72. Noah Maranzana finished 50th in the Men 50 Yard Freestyle Preliminaries (22.74) and 34th in the Men’s 100 Yard Freestyle Preliminaries (49.08).

Hupman contributed to the Baylor School A Men’s 200 Yard Freestyle Relay team, which qualified for the A Final with a time of 1:24.30 in the preliminaries. He did not swim in the final. Despite strong performances across the board, the Baylor boys narrowly missed out on the team title, finishing just 19.5 points behind the winners.
