In an electrifying season opener at the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex, Trey Mallory and his UNC Wilmington University Men's Tennis teammates emerged victorious against Florida Atlantic in a closely contested battle, finishing 4-3.
The competition started with Florida Atlantic claiming the top doubles match. However, UNC Wilmington swiftly bounced back, securing back-to-back wins to clinch the doubles point. Mallory, paired with Jordi Domenech, played a pivotal role by winning the number 3 doubles spot against Segundo Goity Zapico and Lucca Pignaton with a decisive 6-3 victory.
Mallory faced a tough challenge in the number six singles position, going up against Simon Myslivec. Despite a valiant effort, Mallory was defeated in straight sets 7-5, 6-3.
The narrow victory reflects UNC Wilmington's determination and resilience, setting a positive tone for the season ahead.
