Former Bermuda captain David Hemp features prominently in a list of the oldest cricketers to score a century in One Day International (ODI) cricket, proving that age is just a number. The list, which extends beyond the widely-recognized Sachin Tendulkar, highlights players who achieved this feat well into their careers.
Sri Lankan star Tillakaratne Dilshan holds the record for the oldest ODI centurion, having scored 104 against Scotland in the 2015 World Cup at the age of 38 years and 148 days.
Just a day older than Dilshan when he achieved his own milestone, Bermuda's Hemp is second on the list. He was 38 years and 149 days old when he scored an unbeaten 102* against Kenya in 2009.
Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, often cited for his longevity, comes in third. His last ODI century, a 114 against Bangladesh in 2012, came at the age of 38 years and 327 days.
Afghanistan's Mohammad Nabi recently joined the ranks, smashing 136 runs against Sri Lanka in 2024 at the age of 39 years and 39 days, placing him fourth on the list.
Rounding out the top five is former England cricketer Geoff Boycott, who scored 105 runs against Australia in 1979 at the age of 39 years and 51 days. Hemp's inclusion in this esteemed group underscores his remarkable achievement and places him in the company of some of the game's greats.
