Dandy Town Hornets produced a clinical display to defeat Devonshire Cougars 4-1 at the Devonshire Recreation Club and claim sole possession of first place in the Premier Division.
David Jones was the star of the show for the Hornets, bagging a hat-trick to fire his side to victory. He opened the scoring in the 10th minute and doubled the lead just eleven minutes later, giving Dandy Town a commanding 2-0 advantage at the break.
The Cougars came out fighting in the second half, pulling a goal back through Mikel Thomas just two minutes after the restart. However, their hopes of a comeback were quickly dashed when Jones completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot in the 49th minute.
Angelo Simmons added a fourth goal for the Hornets in the 89th minute, sealing a comprehensive victory and sending a clear message to their title rivals.
This win sees Dandy Town leapfrog both the North Village Rams, and the PHC Zebras into top spot in the Premier Division. Their impressive performance demonstrated their attacking prowess and clinical finishing, with Jones leading the way with his hat-trick heroics.
The Cougars will be disappointed with the defeat, but they will look to bounce back in their next match. For Dandy Town, this victory provides a significant boost as they aim to maintain their position at the top of the table and challenge for the title.
