The Butterfield Bermuda Junior Championships came to an end at the scenic Port Royal Golf Course, with Phillips Swift surging to the top of the leaderboard in the Boys' Division, while Kayla Black maintained her lead in the Girls' Division to be crowned Cjhampions.
This prestigious tournament, sponsored by Digicel Business, is part of the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) Tour, attracting a talented field of young golfers from around the globe.
Swift, from Macon, Georgia, fired a superb 2-under par 69 in the second round to move to even par for the tournament. He claimed a one-stroke win over South Africa's Noah Peens, who carded a 1-under par 70 to sit at 1-over par overall. Pavel Tsar from Palm Beach, Florida, is in third place at 2-over par after a second-round 1-under par 69.
Bermuda's Arman Newton led the local contingent, despite a challenging second round of 7-over par 78. He currently sits in a tie for 29th place at 14-over par.
In the Girls' Division, Canada's Kayla Black remained in control, despite a second-round 3-over par 74. She would claim a one-stroke advantage over Juliana Hong from Norman, Oklahoma, who carded a 1-over par 72 to move to 4-over par overall. Ava Osborne from Texas sits in third place at 6-over par after a steady even-par round.
Darina Betschart, the sole Bermudian representative in the girls' division, shot a second-round 15-over par 86 and finished in 19th place.
