Bermuda's Oliver Betschart and Jarryd Dillas saw their Latin America Amateur Championship (LAAC) campaigns come to an end after missing the cut in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Both golfers faced challenges on the Pilar Golf Club course, with the projected cut line set at +2. After a disappointing first round, they were unable to recover sufficiently in the second round to make the weekend.
Betschart, who started on the Back Nine, carded a second-round 3-over par 75 to finish in a tie for 66th place. His round included an early Birdie, but Bogeys on the 2nd, 5th, 11th, and 13th holes hampered his progress.
Dillas, teeing off on the Front Nine, struggled to find consistency, shooting a 7-over par 79. Despite a Birdie on the 1st and another on the 13th, a series of Bogeys and a Double Bogey on the 17th proved costly.
While both golfers will be disappointed to miss the cut, the experience of competing in a prestigious event like the LAAC will undoubtedly be valuable for their development. They will be looking to learn from this experience and come back stronger in future tournaments.
The LAAC continues without Bermudian representation, but Betschart and Dillas can take pride in their efforts against a strong international field. They will now be focusing on their upcoming golfing schedules and aiming to achieve success in future competitions.
