After a historic inaugural campaign, Rhode Island FC is ready to start the 2025 season.
The team will head to Bradenton, Florida, in early February for a two-week training camp at IMG Academy.
There, they will kick off their preseason slate against MLS NEXT Pro side Philadelphia Union II on Feb. 4th. Then they will head to Orlando for a friendly against Orlando City SC on Feb. 11th.
“Preseason is as always an important time to lay the foundation for a long season ahead,” Head Coach Khano Smith said. “We added several key additions to the roster and will look to build off our momentum from last season.”
After their trip, Rhode Island will play against a to-be-determined team in a closed-door scrimmage on Feb. 19th.
Then they will be in Bermuda from Feb. 21 to Feb. 27 where the Bermuda Football Association will host a three-club, round-robin style preseason tournament.
As www.islandstats.com reported when the Bermuda Football Association released their updated schedule Rhode Island would be playing in Bermuda.
“The USL Eastern Conference Champions, led by Bermuda’s Khano Smith, will expose our players, coaches, and fans to professional football,” Bermuda Football Association President Mark Wade said. “The camp is an important one for Bermuda as we prepare for Gold Cup Prelims in March and World Cup qualifiers in June.”
Rhode Island will conclude the preseason with a final game on March 8th.
These six friendlies will help prepare the team for its first game of the USL Championship regular season on Saturday, March 15th at Charleston Battery.
Rhode Island FC’s home opener at the brand-new Stadium at Tidewater Landing in Pawtucket is scheduled for Saturday, May 3rd.
