Kamau Leverock and his Voyagers teammates have finally broken their duck in the Barbados T10 cricket tournament, securing a convincing 7-wicket victory over the Pelicans at Windward Park.
After losing the toss and being asked to field, the Voyagers restricted the Pelicans to 97/6 in their 10 overs. Kyle Jordan top-scored for the Pelicans with an unbeaten 29, but it was Giovonte Depeiza who starred with the ball for the Voyagers, claiming impressive figures of 3 for 16 from his two overs. Leverock also chipped in with two wickets for 18 runs.
In reply, the Voyagers made light work of the chase, reaching 98/3 in just 8.4 overs. Akeem Springer led the way with a blistering knock of 52 not out from 27 balls, including seven fours and two sixes. Unfortunately, Leverock was dismissed without scoring in this match. Steve Pinder was the pick of the Pelicans bowlers with 2 for 13.
This victory will be a huge boost for the Voyagers, who had endured a tough start to the tournament. Leverock and his teammates will be hoping to build on this momentum and climb the table as the competition progresses.
