Kempe Completes Gruelling Solo Sail Around Bermuda

IslandStats.com
Fresh off his impressive performance in the 7th Portugal Grand Prix, where he finished 18th overall, Bermudian sailor Sebastian Kempe has returned home to tackle a different kind of challenge: a solo circumnavigation of Bermuda in demanding conditions.

Kempe, known for his competitive spirit and dedication to his craft, embraced the opportunity to test his skills and endurance in a gruelling six-hour sail around the island. Facing winds of 17-20 knots and challenging seas, he completed the 46-mile course in 6 hours and 24 minutes.

With a North Easterly breeze providing a stern test, Kempe began his journey from Hogfish Beacon. The 9.5 nautical mile beat up to Fort St. Catherine provided a demanding warm-up, testing his ability to navigate against the wind and waves.

After a brief 10-minute reach across the east end, Kempe enjoyed a thrilling 11.5 nautical mile surf down the south shore, harnessing the power of the wind and waves to propel him towards the finish.

This solo circumnavigation is a testament to Kempe's dedication to his training and his passion for pushing his limits. By tackling challenging conditions and testing his skills in a demanding environment, he continues to hone his abilities and prepare for future competitions.

Kempe's commitment to his craft is an inspiration to young sailors in Bermuda and beyond. His willingness to embrace challenges and push his boundaries serves as a reminder that with dedication and perseverance, anything is possible.
