Bermuda's young sailing stars continued to showcase their skills on day two of the 2024 Tuuci Orange Bowl International Youth Regatta in Florida, facing tough competition from some of the world's best young sailors.
Dylan Menzies, Bermuda's sole representative in the ILCA 6 class, battled through four challenging races, bringing the total to six for the series. Facing a fleet of 96 boats, Menzies maintained his position, holding steady in 40th place with 102 net points.
The massive 222-boat Optimist fleet saw Benjamin DeCouto continue to lead the Bermudian contingent. After six races, DeCouto sits in 134th place with 198 net points. Rex Henagulph remains close behind in 147th place with 230 net points, while Sean Pedro moved up to 153rd with 242 net points.
Aaron Riker (163rd), Calypso Coulter (167th), James DeCouto (200th), and Alfie Jansma (203rd) round out the Bermudian team in the Optimist class, all gaining invaluable experience in this ultra-competitive environment.
In the Green Fleet, designed for less experienced sailors, Ethan Adelsberg took over the lead for Bermuda, climbing to 41st place with 209 net points after six races. Jacob Beale sits just behind in 42nd place with 212 net points. Hudson Pitcher (51st) and Eamon Tiwari (60th) continue to battle hard in the 72-boat fleet.
The Orange Bowl Regatta provides a crucial platform for young sailors development, and the Bermuda sailors are making the most of this opportunity to test their skills against top competition.
