Boulevard Blazers stormed into the Shield Final with a resounding 7-1 victory over Somerset Eagles at the Wellington Oval. A dominant display saw the Blazers securing their place in the showpiece event in emphatic fashion.
The goals flowed freely from the outset, with Ernest Trott opening the scoring for Boulevard in the 20th minute. Somerset Eagles briefly levelled through Nathan Rego in the 33rd minute, but the Blazers responded swiftly. Jah Zion Talbot Thomas restored their lead just four minutes later, and Trott added his second of the game moments before half-time to give Boulevard a 3-1 advantage at the break.
The second half saw the Blazers continue their attacking onslaught. Trott completed his hat-trick in the 54th minute, before Doreiko Walker extended the lead to 5-1 with a goal in the 65th minute. Thomas then bagged his second goal of the match in the 75th minute, and Kenfari Swan added the finishing touch with a strike in the 82nd minute to complete the 7-1 rout.
This impressive victory sees Boulevard Blazers reach the Shield final for the first time since their triumph in the 2001/02 season. They will now face the winner of the other Semi-Final between Robin Hood and Somerset Trojans, with the final promising to be a thrilling contest.
For Somerset Eagles, this heavy defeat brings their Shield campaign to a disappointing end. However, they can take some solace from their earlier performances in the competition and will look to bounce back in their upcoming league fixtures.
