The Milwaukee Wave narrowly defeated David Bascome’s Baltimore Blast 5-4 in a pulsating match at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena.
The game was a back-and-forth affair, with both teams trading blows throughout. The Wave drew first blood in the first period with Ricardo Carvalho finding the net, courtesy of an assist from former Blast player Max Ferdinand. However, the Blast responded quickly, with Jamie Thomas leveling the score just before the end of the period, assisted by Victor Parreiras.
The Blast took the lead early in the second period through Parreiras, with Bruno Henrique providing the assist. But their advantage was short-lived as Ian Bennett equalized for the Wave less than a minute later. The teams went into the break locked at 2-2, with both sides registering 12 shots.
The Wave came out firing in the third period, scoring twice in quick succession to take a 4-2 lead. Alex Sanchez and Carvalho were the goalscorers, with Breno Oliveira and Ferdinand providing the assists respectively. The Blast pulled one back through Bruno Henrique, assisted by Elton de Oliveira, to make it 4-3 heading into the final period.
The Blast leveled the score at 4-4 early in the fourth period, with Chad Poarch finding the net from a Jamie Thomas assist. However, the Wave had the final say, with Bennett scoring his second of the game to secure a hard-fought victory for the home side.
Despite the loss, Bascome's Blast showed resilience and determination throughout the match. They will be looking to bounce back in their next game.
