The Optimist World Championships continued in Argentina, with Mar del Plata living up to its reputation for demanding sailing conditions. A strong southerly wind and big waves have tested the skills of 255 young sailors from 51 countries, including a contingent from Bermuda.
Nina Gotfredsen now leads the Bermudian fleet after eight races, Gotfredsen moved up 52 places from 142nd place to her current place of 90th overall with 199 points.
Miguel Powers is currently in 106th place down 7 places with 220 points, Evan Davis occupies 185th position moving up one place with 332 points, followed by Rory Savage who fell 8 places to 189th with 350 points., and Noah Amaradasa moved up 10 places to 204th with 398 points.
