Howes Helps Bolles to FHSAA Class 1A Championship

Marleigh Howes and her Bolles Swimming teammates triumphed at the 2024 FHSAA Class 1A Championship, held at the Florida Aquatics Swimming & Training Center. The Bolles women's team dominated the event, finishing through Event 24 with a remarkable 605.5 points.

Howes delivered a stellar performance, finishing 6th in the Girls 100 Yard Freestyle A-Final with a time of 52.02. In the preliminaries, she secured the 5th spot, touching the wall at 52.16. Her contributions extended to the relay events, where she swam the anchor leg for Bolles in the Girls 400 Yard Free Relay preliminaries. The team set a new AA-C record with a time of 3:29.32, though Howes did not compete in the final.

Arabella Newport Derbyshire, representing Out-of-Door Academy, also showcased her talent. Newport Derbyshire finished 5th in the Girls 100 Yard Backstroke B-Final and 3rd overall with a time of 59.50. She had earlier qualified for the B-Final with the 12th fastest time of 58.98.

Newport Derbyshire led the Out-of-Door Academy Girls 400 Yard Free Relay team in the B-Final, securing 4th place and 12th overall with a time of 3:43.77. She also performed admirably in the Girls 100 Yard Butterfly preliminaries, finishing 13th with a time of 58.32 and subsequently securing 5th place in the B-Final, 13th overall, with a time of 58.80.

The outstanding performances by both Howes and Newport Derbyshire were a testament to their hard work and dedication, as they helped their respective teams achieve notable successes in this prestigious championship.
