Noah Amaradasa's Sail IslandStats.com The Optimist World Championships are underway in Argentina, with Mar del Plata living up to its reputation for demanding sailing conditions. A strong southerly wind and big waves have tested the skills of 255 young sailors from 51 countries, including a contingent from Bermuda.
Miguel Powers has emerged as the leading Bermudian sailor after four races, currently sitting in 99th place overall with 141 points.
Nina Gotfredsen is currently in 142nd place with 181 points, followed by Rory Savage in 181st with 219 points. Evan David occupies 186th position with 225 points, while Noah Amaradasa is in 214th with 278 points.
The Optimist World Championships are a true test of sailing ability, and the Bermudian team are representing their country with pride. With several races still to go, they will be looking to climb the leaderboard and showcase their skills on the international stage.
