Warwick Academy emerged victorious in the Bermuda School Sports Federation Over-13 Boys Six-A-Side Tournament, defeating Somersfield Academy 2 - 0 in a tense Final at the Clyde Best Center of Excellence Field.
The first half was a cagey affair, with both teams battling for control in midfield. Warwick Academy, however, turned up the heat in the second half. De'Ari Trott broke the deadlock early on, smashing home a powerful shot after a cleared corner kick.
Somersfield pressed for an equalizer, but Warwick's defense held firm. In the dying moments of the match, Gillian McGlynn sealed the victory with a clinical finish, sparking wild celebrations among the Warwick players and supporters.
Warwick's path to the Final included a 2-0 victory over Whitney Institute Middle School in their Semi-Final. Trott once again found the back of the net, with Jahzari Ingham also getting on the scoresheet.
Somersfield reached the Final after a dramatic penalty shootout victory over Saltus Grammar School. The match finished 1-1 after regulation time, with Cairo Burgess scoring for Somersfield and Chaz Edmead equalizing for Saltus. Somersfield held their nerve in the shootout, winning 5-3 to advance to the final.
Saltus bounced back from their Semi-Final disappointment to claim third place, defeating Whitney Institute 2-0 thanks to goals from Edmead and David Augustus.
