Bermuda Cruise to Victory in T20 World Cup Qualifier

IslandStats.com
Bermuda Won by 92 Runs

Bermuda 162/7 Suriname 69/9

Bermuda made a strong start to their ICC Men's T20 World Cup Sub Regional Americas Qualifiers campaign, securing a comprehensive 92-run victory over Suriname at the Hurlingham Club Ground in Argentina.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Bermuda posted a commanding total of 162/7 in their 20 overs. Tre Manders led the way with a fluent knock of 44 off 32 balls, including 4 fours and a six. Dion Stovell provided valuable support, contributing 37 off 33 deliveries. For Suriname, Xaviee Safiero Smith was the pick of the bowlers, finishing with figures of 2 for 22.

Suriname's chase never truly got going. They struggled to cope with Bermuda's disciplined bowling attack and were restricted to just 69/9 in their 20 overs. Yuvraj Dayal top-scored with a defiant 22, but no other batsman managed to reach double figures. Kevon Fubler was the star performer for Bermuda, claiming impressive figures of 3 for 4 from his 4 overs. Derrick Brangmen also bowled economically, taking 2 for 8.

Bermuda coach Cal Waldron said, “Credit to Suriname, they did have some really good bowling spells, and they felt out well, so they made us work for the runs we did get.”

This victory puts Bermuda in a strong position in the tournament. They will be looking to build on this momentum in their upcoming matches as they aim to qualify for the next stage of the T20 World Cup.
