Five young Bermudian sailors have embarked on a challenging adventure, competing in the 2024 Optimist World Championships in Argentina.
Noah Amaradasa, Evan Davis, Nina Gotfredsen, Rory Savage, and Miguel Powers proudly represented Bermuda at the opening ceremony, marking the culmination of months of preparation.
The journey to Argentina was no easy feat. After enduring 48 hours of gruelling travel, the team finally arrived and immediately set about preparing for the competition. Rigging their boats and hitting the water, they experienced their first taste of the challenging conditions that await them.
Argentina is known for its demanding sailing environment, and this year is no exception. The young Bermudians are facing massive waves and strong currents, a stark contrast to the calmer waters they are accustomed to back home.
