Wheaton College's Women's Tennis team, featuring Bermudian player Asia Hollis, made a strong showing at the New England Women's Intercollegiate Tennis Tournament (NEWITT) hosted by Smith College. All three of Wheaton's doubles pairings stormed into the Quarter-Finals, showcasing the team's depth and talent.
Hollis and her sophomore teammate Laila Haraj-Sai, competing in the "C" draw, secured their spot in the Quarter-Finals with a hard-fought victory.
The duo first teamed up to defeat the Smith College pairing of junior Dayana Caluna and freshman Alexa Konstantopoulous 8-6 in Doubles action.
Hollis then clinched the win for Wheaton with a gutsy performance in singles, overcoming a first-set loss to defeat Caluna 3-6, 6-2, 10-3.
With all three Wheaton Doubles teams advancing to the Quarter-Finals, they are poised for a deep run in the tournament. Hollis and her teammates will be looking to continue their winning ways and bring home the NEWITT title.
