Sam Williamson is officially locked in. The rising star sent shockwaves through the Swim England National Winter Meet in Sheffield, obliterating the Bermuda National Open Record in the Men's 100m Individual Medley not once, but twice in the same day!
Williamson, gearing up for the Short Course World Championships in Budapest, first shattered his own record in the Heats. He touched the wall in a blistering 55.71, a massive improvement on his previous mark of 57.01 set last year. The time was good enough for 8th overall, earning him a spot in the A Final.
But Williamson wasn't done. In the final, he somehow found another gear, dropping his time even further to an astonishing 55.49! The swim secured him a 5th place finish and left no doubt that he's a serious medal contender heading into Worlds.
Williamson's performance is a major boost for Bermuda swimming. His explosive speed and impressive versatility in the Individual Medley makes him a threat in multiple events. With the Short Course Worlds just around the corner, all eyes will be on this young phenom to see if he can bring home some hardware.
