The Georgia Fall Invitational saw fireworks in the pool as Elan Daley, making a triumphant return from injury, helped propel the No. 4/6 University of Florida Gators to a second consecutive midseason sweep. Meanwhile, Logan Watson-Brown represented the Georgia Bulldogs with strong performances of her own.
Daley, a key cog in the Florida Relay Machine, showcased her versatility throughout the meet. She anchored the Florida C team to an 11th-place finish in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 3:19.75, and she played a crucial role in the 200 Yard Medley Relay B team's 5th-place finish stopping the clock in 1:37.58.
Individually, Daley impressed with a 19th-place finish in the 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 1:47.86 and an 18th-place finish in the 100 Yard Freestyle clocking 49.36. Daley capped off her meet by anchoring the 800 Yard Freestyle Relay B team to a 6th-place finish with a time of 7:12.26 and the 400 Yard Medley Relay D team to a 7th-place finish clocking 3:36.10.
Watson-Brown battled hard for Georgia, delivering strong performances in the Backstroke events. She finished 19th overall in the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 54.72 and 24th overall in the 200 Yard Backstroke stopping the clock in 2:02.92.
Watson-Brown also contributed to the Georgia Relay teams, swimming the third leg in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay D team’s 13th place finish with a time of 3:23.88, and leading off the 200 Yard Medley Relay team who finished in 12th place, clocking 1:41.29. She rounded out her individual events with a 35th-place finish in the 50 Yard Freestyle touching the wall in 23.51.
Daley's return from injury is a major boost for Florida, who continue to assert their dominance in the pool. Watson-Brown's performances highlight her continued development as a key contributor for Georgia. With both swimmers firing on all cylinders, expect more exciting races from these two talented athletes.
