The Bermuda School Sports Federation will be hosting the Middle and Senior School Knock-Out Cup Finals this weekend at the Clyde Best Centre of Excellence.
The finals will get underway on Friday at 6:30 pm with the Under 13 Final where Warwick Academy will take on Somersfield Academy. Warwick defeated previously undefeated Saltus Grammar School 4-3 in a penalty shootout after the match ended in a 2-2 draw. Somersfield defeated Sandys Secondary Middle School 4-3. Cairo Burgess scored a Hat trick of free kicks, and Jason Ngaruiya scored the other.
Warwick led twice in the match through Freddie Twite and Caleb Mello only to see Saltus equalize twice through Mackay Browne and Jace Postlethwaite. Somersfield Academy and Sandys Secondary Middle School will lock horns on Thursday with a place in the final at stake.
The nightcap on Friday will see the Under 16 Final with Saltus Grammar School and Berkeley Green squaring off in a repeat of the recent six a side tournament. Berkeley overcame Warwick Academy 6-5 in a penalty shootout after a 2-2 draw. Qash Lambert and Jeon Wolfe scored for the finalists with Zydon Lightbourne Furbert netting both for Warwick. Malik Paynter scored twice to lead Saltus to a 4-0 winner over CedarBridge Academy in their semifinal. Curtis Jackson and Saezjhor Dent added a goal apiece for Saltus.
Matches on Saturday will get underway at 11:00 am with the Middle School Girls Final between Warwick Academy and Bermuda High School. BHS reached the final after yet another penalty shootout. Sophie Tindill scored the lone goal for the winners in the 1-1 draw after regulation time. Ki’Ana Simmons scored for Saltus. Warwick Academy had a walkover win in the Semi-Final. `
The Middle School Over 13 Final will feature Saltus Grammar School and Warwick Academy at 12:30. Both teams secured their passage to the final with convincing wins. Warwick defeated The Whitney Institute 5-1 in their semifinal. Jahzari Ingham led Warwick with two goals while Deari Trott, Rory Fosker and Cillian McGlynn added a goal each. Adaj O’Brien scored the consolation for Whitney. Chaz Edmead scored a hat trick to lead Saltus to a 6-0 win over Mount Saint Agnes Academy. Ta’han Eve added two goals for Saltus who also benefited from an own goal.
The Senior School Girls final will kick off at 2:00 with The Berkeley Institute facing Saltus Grammar School. Berkeley overcame a spirited CedarBridge Academy team thanks to Keyandae Lightbourne who scored the game’s only goal. Saltus defeated Warwick Academy 4-2 in a penalty shootout after the matched ended 2-2. Karis Brooks scored twice for Warwick with Milan Gibbons-Thomas scoring twice for Saltus
The over 16 Boys Final will get underway at 3:30. The Berkeley Institute will feature in their third senior school final of the weekend when they take on CedarBridge Academy. Berkeley edged past Warwick Academy in the semifinal thanks to a solo strike from Sinai Simons who scored the matches only goal. CedarBridge needed a penalty shootout to eliminate Saltus Grammar School in the other semifinal. Malik Paynter scored Saltus’ lone goal with Dakari Smith-Zuill equalizing for CedarBridge.
