The Bernard's Park Netball Courts was a cauldron of tension as Somersfield Academy and BHS battled it out in a thrilling final of the Bermuda School Sports Federation Middle School Netball tournament. The atmosphere crackled with every pass, every interception, and every shot.
The two teams traded goals blow for blow, with neither able to gain a decisive advantage. Milena Millett and Freida Valli were on fire for Somersfield, each netting three goals with incredible accuracy. BHS fought valiantly, with Samantha Morgan scoring 3 goals and Hailey Oduori scored 2 goals keeping them in the hunt. But as the clock ticked down, BHS found themselves trailing by a single, agonizing point. Despite a frantic final push, time ran out before they could level the score, leaving Somersfield to celebrate a hard-fought 6-5 victory.
The path to the final was no walk in the park for either team. Somersfield had to overcome Pool A winners, Saltus, in a tense Semi-Final clash. Millet once again led the charge with four goals, while Valli added three. Zara Bule scored 3 goals and Titiana Green scored once and fought hard for Saltus, but it wasn't enough to stop Somersfield's advance.
BHS faced their own dramatic showdown against Dellwood Middle School. The match went down to the wire, with Morgan emerging as the hero, scoring two crucial goals in Overtime to secure a 7-6 victory. Morgan's four goals and Oduori's three were just enough to edge out Sa-Qurity Warner's impressive five-goal haul for Dellwood, with Dani Brown adding the other.
Somersfield's championship win was a testament to their grit, determination, and teamwork. They proved themselves to be the queens of the court, with their exciting brand of netball.
