Two sets of brothers from Bermuda played key roles in securing the Canadian Accredited Independent Schools (CAIS) Division 1 Senior Boys National Championship for St. Andrew’s College.

As www.islandstats.com covered the Saltus Senior Boy’s and the Saltus Under 13 Boy’s we can once again share the goals from the St. Andrew’s College vs. Saltus Senior Boys match

Sebastian and Michael Madeiros, as well as Reza and Heris Ziai played roles in the team's victory.

Sebastian Madeiros was named MVP of the Championship match, recognized for his exceptional leadership and performance on the field.

Sebastian Madeiros, a Co-Captain of the St. Andrew’s College Varsity Soccer team, commanded the midfield, helping to maintain control and drive the team to victory. His defensive skills and strategic play were instrumental throughout the tournament. Joining him on the varsity squad this year, his younger brother Michael Madeiros played a crucial role in the team’s defense, helping to limit opposing teams’ scoring opportunities.

In addition to the Madeiros brothers, Bermuda resident brothers Reza and Heris Ziai also contributed significantly to the team’s success, playing pivotal roles in each of St. Andrew's wins throughout the competition. Notably, St. Andrew’s faced Bermuda’s own Saltus Grammar School twice during the tournament, making the victory particularly meaningful for the Bermudian players. The Saltus team had great success in the tournament and all of the players from Bermuda represented Bermuda and their respective schools with great pride.

During the group stage, the St. Andrew’s Saints defeated Saltus Grammar School 3 - 0, Lower Canada College (Quebec) 1-0, and Upper Canada College (Ontario) 4-1. They continued their winning streak in the knockout rounds, starting with a 2-0 quarterfinal victory over Selwyn House (Montreal), followed by a 3 - 1 win over Saltus in the Semi-Finals.

Coach Adrian Bradbury praised the contributions of the Bermuda-based players, stating, "Bermuda continues to be one of the foundations of our soccer program here at St. Andrew's College. Our two senior starters, Seb and Reza, really asserted themselves during this championship weekend, while our two sophomores in Michael and Heris contributed in a major way and are key to the future of Saints Soccer."

In Bermuda, Sebastian and Michael Madeiros, along with the Ziai brothers, have honed their skills with Warwick Football Academy and Robin Hood Football Club under the guidance of Coach Richard Todd as well as the coaching staff and club team. Their local training and teamwork have prepared them for high-level competitions, leading to both league and Kappa title victories over the years.

Sebastian Madeiros expressed his gratitude upon receiving the MVP award, saying he was honored to accept it and acknowledged the contributions of his teammates. “This award reflects the collective effort of everyone on the team,” he shared.
