Caleb McDowall scored, as he and his Anderson Men's Soccer teammates hosted North Georgia for a non-conference matchup, falling short by a score of 2 - 1.
The contest was well-matched from the start with both sides recording two shots each in the first eight minutes of play, but North Georgia ultimately struck first following an Anderson foul in the goal box. North Georgia capitalized on the opportunity, scoring one from the spot in the 17th minute.
Though Anderson outshot North Georgia 6-2 during the remaining 25 minutes of the half, North Georgia knocked in a second goal with less than a minute left in the period. North Georgia took a 2-0 advantage into halftime.
Anderson's offense returned to the pitch eager to get on the board, earning three corner kicks in as many minutes to open the second half. Anderson's efforts were rewarded when junior McDowall found his first goal of the season to cut the North Georgia lead in half in the 67th minute.
Anderson's momentum ultimately came up short, however, and North Georgia outlasted Anderson for a 2 - 1 victory.
