American superstar Taylor Knibb was again a class apart from her rivals as she registered an utterly dominant victory in Ibiza, Spain to make it two wins out of two on the T100 World Tour this season.
Dame Flora Duffy finished 9th completing the 100K distance in a time of 3:39:09.
As the pro women dived into the sea off Ibiza’s beautiful Figueretas Beach, Olympic power in the front swim pack came from the USA’s Taylor Spivey and 2020 Olympic Champion Duffy along with Miami T100 winner India Lee and Sara Perez Sala, followed by San Francisco T100 Champion Taylor Knibb.
Spivey was first out the water but before long it was Knibb who took charge, extending her lead throughout the 80km bike course while India Lee established herself in clear 2nd place.
By the end of the bike, Knibb had a lead of 3:13 to second place Miami T100 Triathlon winner India Lee, who in turn earned an advantage of 2 minutes to the chase group of Olympic silver medalist Julie Derron and 3-time Canadian Time Trial Champion Paula Findlay and Imogen Simmonds.
Duffy clocked 26:53 over the 2km Swim, 2:06:22 on the 80km Bike Course, and 1:04:12 on the 18km Run Course.
