Rockal Evans has Qualified for the finals of the America’s Cup E Series, which will be held in Barcelona at the end of September.
Evans won this weeks Qualifier, Evans overall competed in over 800 races, including 300 hours of play time in 8 weeks.
The Grand Final kicks off in Barcelona on September 28th. The Eight finalists including Evans will battle it out for the title of America’s Cup E-Series Champion and a slice of the over $50,000.00 prize pool.
When asked by www.islandstats.com how much of his sailing experience came into play when competing, Evans said, “100% all of it in a sense. Emirates team New Zealand created the sim game, to test and develop there race yachts for the last America’s Cup, so the game is super detailed for competitive sailors. Reading the wind shifts in the game is similar to real life and also the boat handling and getting the boat up to speed fast out of tacks and out of gybes and also like mark roundings you can gain meters on other boat if you do the maneuvers well.”
