Bermudian Olympians Jack Harvey and Erica Hawley were warmly welcomed back home following their debuts at the Paris Summer Olympic Games.
A Government spokesperson said, “Last week, Bermudian Olympians – swimmer Jack Harvey and triathlete, Erica Hawley – arrived home after their stellar debuts at the Paris Summer Olympic Games.
“Jack, who arrived Tuesday evening, following his outstanding performances at the Olympic Games, was met at the L.F. Wade International Airport by Minister Tinee Furbert, Acting Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Sports. Erica returned to Bermuda, to a warm welcome from family and friends.”
Minister Furbert added, “The Government has recognized how critical it is to support our young people and elite athletes. Jack Harvey, Erica Hawley, and our entire Bermuda Olympic team have shown us the results of hard work, perseverance, and a strong mindset. They have excelled in their respective sports in Bermuda and have brought pride to our country on the world stage. I hope that all of Bermuda will continue to rally behind all our athletes. We are immensely proud of their accomplishments.
“Bermuda’s Olympic athletes have exemplified the values we strive to instill in all our young people. Their dedication and success are a source of inspiration, proving that with determination and support, greatness can be achieved. It was my pleasure to be at the airport to welcome back some of our Olympic delegations. Bermuda stands behind all our Olympians. They have made us their biggest fans.”
