Aeziah Divine was in action at Thruxton Race Circuit. In qualifying, Divine wanted to improve his throttle trace going into Church and Goodwood and hit some fast laps early in the session in case it began to rain. Divine's pace was improving and he was lapping in a few different groups throughout the session but felt he could do more if he had a clearer track in front.
Divine was sitting around P16-20 for a while before some riders picked up quicker times on their last lap. Divine qualified in P24 with a time of 1:25.236, a gap of 2.857 to the front.
In Race 1, Divine didn’t have a great start but closed in and was battling with the group fighting for 19th throughout the whole race. Divine learned a lot and noticed certain areas where he was stronger. Divine found he had the pace to lead the group at times so ran in P19 for part of the race which he was very happy about. Divine eventually crossed the line in P20.
Race 2 saw Divine start from P18 and got off to a better start battling for P13. Racers were consistently changing positions each lap. Divine was strong under braking into Campbell and made some good passes in that corner, reaching P15 in the race! Unfortunately, on lap 10 while in P17, Divine hit the high inside curb at Cobb which unsettled the bike and caused my air vest to go off.
Divine could have saved it and continued on but sadly when it activated, it pushed him off the side of the bike and took him out of the race. Divine’s first DNF of the season but Divine was not too upset as he had his best R&G British Talent Cup race so far.
Divine said, “I’m also happy to have walked off track without any injuries thanks to my DRC Race Leathers, LS2 helmet, and Furygan airvest.
This weekend I felt a lot more comfortable on the Moto3 and am starting to get more out of the bike as a result. It’s also helping me to learn the BSB circuits faster as I haven’t ridden any of them before. We have a 5-week break until we’re back out at Oulton Park next month.”
Being able to continue in BTC means a lot to me so thanks to the crew at Mortimer Racing - Victoria House Academy for another great race round and making it happen.”
