Two years ago Benn Smith and his crew Christian Ebbin sailed away from the fleet to win the 78th edition of the Edward Cross Long Distance Comet Race, this year the 80th year, the same pair returned and accomplished the same thing.
Smith and Ebbin would be out of the Town Cut Channel first and just powered their way to the finish line clocking a time of 1:49:32. Alan Frith and Sara Frith crossed the line in second clocking 1:52:31, and Maxwell Curtis and his crew Wesley Tucker finished third with a time of 1:55:00.
