The Bermuda Alumnae Chapter (BAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated will host the second annual Delta NetFest Netball Tournament and Health Festival.
This year, the event will be held at Whitney Institute Netball Courts between 12:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Spectators can watch Under-11, Under-14, and Under-17 Age Groups in what promises to be an exhilarating tournament showcasing the athleticism of Bermuda’s talented youth netball players. The Health Festival includes local vendors with expertise in mental and physical health, wellness, and well-being.
Through the partnership with Bermuda Netball Association, participating netball teams will include Storm, Phoenix, North Village, Southampton Rangers, and Dandy Stars. Each age group will have an overall winner, and Most Valuable Player awards will be presented.
Attendees can check their blood pressure and blood sugar at the Health Festival. Healthcare professionals will be available to discuss holistic health and wellness approaches to creating a balanced lifestyle. Sports merchandise and refreshments will also be on sale.
“We are excited to be hosting Delta NetFest for its second year,” remarks Shawnette Smith, President of the Bermuda Alumnae Chapter. “Aligned to the Sorority’s programmatic thrust of Physical and Mental Health, the sport of Netball promotes physical wellness, supports the development of problem-solving skills, motivates team building, and encourages self-confidence. These positive attributes are what the Sorority endeavors to teach young women in the communities that we service.”
“The Bermuda Alumnae Chapter expresses its thanks and appreciation to our returning Gold level Sponsor, Ultimate Imaging, who will also be on-site to discuss its imaging services.” Noted Renée Foggo-Paynter, Co-Chair of the BAC Physical and Mental Health Committee. “We also acknowledge the support of the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Recreation for sponsoring the event, and to BGA for their in-kind donations.”
