IslandStats.com
Nahki Wells and his Bristol City teammates continued their winning start to pre-season after scoring eight against Newport County at the Robins High Performance Centre.

Wells scored four, with Sam Bell, Zak Vyner and Alex Scott (2) completing the scoring in a dominant performance against the League Two side.

XI: Wiles-Richards; Leeson, Vyner, Araoye, Pring; King, Scott, Williams; Cornick, Wells, Bell - Substitutes: Basic, Meerholz, Morrison, Campbell-Slowey, Francois

Bristol City made a bright start with the first goal coming in the eighth minute of play as Wells played an excellent cross-field ball to Bell who’s initial effort was saved before he slotted calmly past the keeper for the opener.

City’s second of the game came just shy of the 20 minute mark as Wells nicked the ball from the defender and fired it low and hard into the bottom right-hand corner.

As the clock ticked past the half an hour mark, City were totally dominant on the ball. Wells’ secured his second of the game in the 37th minute after Bell’s cross deflected off the County keeper onto forward.

City cruised into half time with a four-goal lead after Andy King whipped a ball to the back post to find Vyner who poked it home.

City started the second half with even more energy as the fifth goal came within five minutes of the restart. After a display of quick feet, Alex Scott’s strike from the left hand corner of the box deflected off Wells to find the back of the net.

It was attack after attack from the Robins, and the Newport County could not sustain the pressure and were forced into conceding a penalty, which Wells put away for his fourth of the game.

City's penultimate goal of the game came via some individual brilliance from Scott, which saw him fire a volley past the County 'keeper.

Moments from full-time, Scott found the net for the second time after a cool finish into the bottom corner to make it 8-0 to the hosts.
