Taurean Manders IslandStats.com Although we are still yet to hear from the Bermuda Football Association regarding anything to do with the World Cup game next Friday in Trinidad nor the home game against Guyana, www.islandstats.com can confirm the time for the game in Trinidad and that Taurean Manders has been selected to represent Bermuda.
We can confirm both reports due to overseas press and Manders’ club releasing a statement.
Next week's 2014 CONCACAF Second Round World Cup Qualifier between Trinidad and Tobago and Bermuda will now be played at 4pm (5PM – Bermuda Time).
The venue—the Hasely Crawford Stadium—and date—Friday September 2—remain the same. The change in kickoff from 7 p.m. has also been approved by FIFA.
It was made due to the current State of Emergency and after consultation with the Ministry of National Security by the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation.
Meanwhile Capital City Football Club – Ottawa’s new professional soccer team – has confirmed that defender Taurean Manders has been selected and will represent Bermuda during upcoming CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying.
While Manders has played for Bermuda at the youth national team level and in friendlies, this will be his first CAP (appearance) in a game that has competitive implications, toward Bermuda's bid to the FIFA World Cup 2014.
Manders will leave the club for 10 days at the end of August to play in two games for Bermuda. The first is a road game on September 2, 2011 vs. Trinidad & Tobago. Four days later, Manders will play at home against Guyana on September 6.
Head coach Shaun Harris says, "It’s a great opportunity for Andre - he earned it. To play within the National team is a terrific time in a footballers career when a player gets to represent his home country."
