IslandStats.com
Following the www.islandstats.com story that Beach Volleyball has been included in the 2018 Commonwealth Games, a spokesperson for the Bermuda Volleyball Association (BVA) said, “The BVA is very excited about this new development and look forward to participating in any qualification events leading up to the next Commonwealth Games.”

Meanwhile, Bermuda played host to the annual Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association (ECVA) general meeting, which was held at the Newstead Belmont Hills hotel.

Present at the meeting were Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, British Virgin Islands, Dominica, St Martin, St. Maarten, Grenada, Saba, St. Vincent, St. Eustatia, St. Lucia, St. Kitts and Nevis and host Bermuda.

Also present were the ECVA and NORCECA Presidents Glen Quinlan and Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, respectively.

Items discussed included Youth championships, the NORCECA beach tour, Sports floor project in NORCECA, and NORCECA’s financial transparency activities and continued coaching assistance.

It was also stated there will be an increase in the allotment of volleyball equipment for 2016. In his report NORCECA’s President outlined the many achievements made over the past few years and impressed upon members the need to keep working so the sport of volleyball can grow.

President Glen Quinlan of the ECVA, succinctly outlined the growth and accomplishments of the volleyball grouping. He focused his attention on courses that could be accessed by the grouping and the upcoming events. Members were all giddy as these events help the young athletes to develop.

The upcoming events are the Youth championships and the World Championship Qualifiers. The dates for the former tournament will be announced later, while the latter will be hosted in several countries throughout the region.
