Four Individual Awards for Bermuda in ECVA Final Four

IslandStats.com
The Bermuda Women’s National Volleyball team returned from the 2025 ECVA Women’s Final Four tournament with the silver medal, but their success was underlined by an outstanding haul of four individual awards, showcasing the technical quality of the Bermudian squad.

Despite falling to a 3-1 defeat against Saint Lucia in the final, the team's strong pool play and overall performance earned significant recognition across key disciplines:

Best Blocker: Amber Simons was recognized as the tournament's best defensive presence at the net, winning the Best Blocker award.
Best Setter: Kaylee Trott was named the Best Setter, highlighting the high standard of Bermuda's court distribution and offensive organisation.
Best Server: Megan Hands was awarded the Best Server trophy, acknowledging her effectiveness and consistency from the service line throughout the competition.
Second Best Spiker: Natalie Gazzard was honored as the Second Best Spiker of the tournament, recognizing her powerful and efficient hitting on the attack.

The four individual awards are a testament to the comprehensive development of the Bermuda National Team, providing a major boost to the program even as they narrowly missed out on the ultimate prize of qualification for the 2026 NORCECA Panamerican Cup.

Bermuda Miss Out on NORCECA Spot

IslandStats.com
The Bermuda Women’s National Volleyball team’s impressive run at the 2025 ECVA Women’s Final Four tournament came to an end in the final, as they fell 3-1 to a determined Saint Lucia side. The defeat saw Saint Lucia claim the title and, crucially, the spot in the 2026 NORCECA Panamerican Cup.

The final was a highly anticipated rematch, coming just a day after Bermuda had defeated Saint Lucia in a thrilling five-set encounter during the pool stages.

However, the final delivered a reversal of fortunes. Bermuda started the match strongly, surprising Saint Lucia by taking the first set 25-23.

Saint Lucia, knowing the stakes—the right to represent the Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association (ECVA) at the next level—regrouped powerfully. They controlled the next three sets with consistent attacking and defence, winning 25-20, 25-18, and 25-21.

Despite a strong tournament performance that saw them go undefeated in pool play, the final proved to be a bridge too far. Bermuda finishes the tournament as Runners-Up, a commendable result but one that sees them narrowly miss out on the ultimate prize of Panamerican Cup qualification.

IslandStats.com
The Bermuda Women’s National Volleyball team has stormed through the preliminary rounds of the 2025 ECVA Women’s Final Four tournament, securing an undefeated record with two more hard-fought victories over the host nation and Saint Lucia. The team is now in a commanding position in their pursuit of the title and a spot in the 2026 NORCECA Panamerican Cup.

In a challenging match against the host nation, Antigua and Barbuda, Bermuda showcased resilience to claim a 3-1 victory (25-23, 26-24, 20-25, 25-17). Bermuda started strongly but faced stiff competition, particularly in the nail-biting second set which they clinched 26-24. Antigua’s tenacity saw them take the third set, but Bermuda's young squad rallied in the fourth to secure their second win of the tournament.

The victory was powered by the offensive output of Kayley Hamilton, who led the team with 16 points.

Bermuda's winning run continued in a dramatic five-set thriller against Saint Lucia in Match 5 of the tournament, winning 3-2.

Bermuda took a commanding 2-0 lead, winning the first two sets 25-16 and 25-19. However, Saint Lucia refused to surrender, battling back to win the third set 25-23 and drawing the match level at 2-2 with a hard-fought 27-25 win in the fourth.

With the match on the line, Bermuda regrouped and demonstrated superior composure in the decisive fifth set, claiming the victory 15-11. Natalie Gazzard stepped up as the team’s leading scorer in the high-stakes match, tallying 13 points.

These back-to-back victories, following their opening sweep of Grenada, ensured Bermuda's perfect record in the ECVA Women's Final Four, positioning them strongly for the medal matches as the tournament concludes.

Bermuda’s Beach Volleyball pair of Sean Tucker and Benjamin Barnett experienced a demanding second day at the 9th stage of the North America, Central America, and the Caribbean (NORCECA) Beach Volleyball Tour, but concluded the day with a hard-earned victory to secure a shot at the top ten.

After a competitive 28-minute battle, Tucker and Barnett were defeated in straight sets, 21-13, 21-17. The loss positioned them in the 9th–12th place bracket of the knockout rounds.

Facing elimination from the chance to finish inside the top ten, Tucker and Barnett returned to the sand to face Jared Brown and Cole Sommer from the British Virgin Islands in the 9th–12th place play-off.
