Bermuda’s Damien Mathews and Dayvon Tucker have opened their campaigns on the international stage at the 2026 Pan American Bowling Champion of Champions tournament in San Jose, Costa Rica.
Competing at the Bowling Center of the Costa Rica Country Club, the island duo took to the lanes alongside the Americas' elite in the Men’s Singles division, with the week-long championship running through 31 October.
Mathews delivered the standout performance of the opening stages for Bermuda, securing an 18th-place finish overall with a combined tally of 3,343 pins.
The highlight of his competition came in the 14th game, where Mathews came agonisingly close to a coveted perfect score, stringing together a sequence of strikes to card a blistering 290—one of the highest single-game scores of the entire tournament.
Compatriot Dayvon Tucker finished 26th overall, amassing 2,969 total pins across his series.
Tucker also found his rhythm during the 14th rotation, producing his best individual effort of the event with a clean 228 to highlight his singles campaign.
Action at the Costa Rica Country Club continues throughout the week as the competition moves into doubles and combined team divisions.
