Islanders produced the standout team performance of the latest Second Spring Senior Bowling League round at Warwick Lanes, securing an authoritative 4-0 sweep over Last Pin.
The clean sweep headlined a competitive week of senior action, which also saw New Comers and Drifters claim vital victories, while Just Kickin and Pinsplitters could not be separated in a tightly contested 2-2 draw.
New Comers proved too strong for Blue Angels, sealing a 3-1 win, while Drifters matched that scoreline with a 3-1 triumph of their own against Star Lites.
In the men's individual honours, Michael Vassell enjoyed an outstanding outing, topping both scratch categories and the handicap game.
Vassell rolled an impressive 245 to lead the scratch game standings ahead of John Maycock (193) and Nathan Stevens (179). He carried that momentum through to the scratch series, posting a commanding 580 total, followed by Maycock on 479 and Stevens on 457.
Vassell also set the benchmark in the handicap game with a 264, edging Stevens (243) and Llewellyn Jones (238). However, it was Jones who took top honours in the handicap series, compiling a 657 to narrowly edge Stevens (649) and Eugene Smith (648).
The women's division was headlined by an equally dominant display from Bobbie Jones, who swept the top spots across scratch game, scratch series, and handicap game.
Jones posted a clinical 219 to lead the scratch game, finishing clear of Malikah Symonds (181) and Susie Bradshaw (180). In the scratch series, Jones set the standard with a 572, with Symonds (498) and Bradshaw (471) completing the top three.
Jones also delivered in the handicap game with a 257, closely pursued by Sonia Holder (256) and Jolene Bean (240). Holder turned the tables in the handicap series, however, claiming top spot with a fine 691 total to edge Jones (686) and Linda Simons (676).
