Bermuda's bowlers suffered agonizing heartbreak at the International Bowling Federation (IBF) World Cup in Munich, missing out on a place in the knockout stages by the narrowest of margins.
Competing at the Max Munich Bowling center in Brunnthal, Bermuda concluded their overall campaign in 31st place after a spirited team effort that took them to the brink of a major upset.
Contesting Team Round Two in Group B—where matches were contested across a best-of-three-game format with three points awarded for a victory—Bermuda battled to a seventh-place finish on 18 points.
The squad pushed their international rivals to the wire, but ultimately fell just short of extending their tournament. A single additional match victory would have propelled Bermuda into a decisive roll-off for a coveted spot in the last 16.
Despite the fine margins denying them a fairytale progression into the knockout rounds, Bermuda left Germany having shown immense resolve against some of the world's elite federations on the global stage.
