Bermuda’s Megan Hands and Natalie Gazzard wrapped up their Under-23 NORCECA Continental Beach Volleyball Tour campaign in style with a clinical straight-sets victory in San Salvador.
The Bermudian pairing took to the sand for the 11th-place play-off against Julissa Kelly and Elise Swaby of the Cayman Islands, producing a commanding 33-minute performance to win 21-14, 21-10.
Hands and Gazzard set the tone early in the opening set, controlling the tempo at the net and targeting open space to establish an early cushion. Despite spirited resistance from the Cayman duo, Bermuda held firm to close out the opener 21-14.
Carrying all the momentum into the second set, Hands and Gazzard tightened their grip on the contest. A clinical display of serving and sharp defensive transition play allowed the Bermudian pair to pull well clear, wrapping up the set 21-10 with minimal fuss.
The result secured an 11th-place overall finish for Hands and Gazzard, capping off an encouraging and battle-tested tournament run against regional opposition on the continental circuit.
